Copper thief shuts down Desert Heights Charter School for the day

GLENDALE, AZ - Desert Heights Charter School had an unexpected three-day weekend due to a thief. The school's copper water pipes were stolen causing the main water system to shut down on Friday.

The pipes and cages that cover the pipes are costing the school anywhere from two to three thousand dollars to repair.

Plumbers claim that the thief had some sort of tubing cutters to help get them to the pipes.

Students could not stay in school on Friday, because there was no running water.

The pipes have been fixed, and the students should be returning to school on Monday as scheduled.
