A Buckeye teacher has been arrested for alleged "improper conduct" with a 17-year-old.

Liberty Elementary School District Superintendent Dr. Andy Rogers said the district learned Monday morning that Joshua Schroder was being held by law enforcement. Schroder is a teacher at Rainbow Valley Elementary School, located near Elliot and Rainbow Valley roads.

The Goodyear Police Department says Schroder was arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old foreign exchange student. Schroder was the coordinator of a foreign exchange program at the time.

Schroder has been "reassigned to home", and is prohibited from being on district property and having contact with students or staff.

"Once the district has gathered further information, we will take appropriate action regarding the employment of Mr. Schroder," Rogers said in a Monday statement on the district's website.

Police say Schroder will be charged with nine counts of sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
