Man arrested in shooting death of Avondale wife; taken into custody in Nogales

Police have arrested a man in Nogales after they believe he killed his wife back in December of 2015. 

According to the Avondale Police Department, on December 16, officers were called out to a home near Country Club Drive and Main Street after reports of a shooting. Come December 30, the woman's body was found near Goodyear Ballpark. She had been shot. 

Police identified the woman's man, Daniel Lopez, as a suspect but the man had fled to Mexico. The man was located in Nogales at the port of entry on Sunday. 

The man was taken into custody by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office on a felony warrant for the death of his wife. Lopez was then transferred over to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. 

Avondale police were able to confirm the man's involvement in his wife's death. He faces one count of manslaughter.
