Police in Tempe say a death investigation at a "hoarder house" appears to have been a murder-suicide.

On Saturday around noon, officers responded to a home in the area of Loop 101 and Apache Boulevard after a person called and reported that they hadn't seen their neighbors in a few days.

When officers responded to the home, they discovered two people dead inside, a police spokesperson said.

Authorities described the house as a "hoarder house" and a neighbor told ABC15 that city officials were recently seen cleaning items out of the home.

Police on Sunday described the incident as a murder-suicide and said it appears the son shot his father before turning the gun on himself. Their names are not being released at this time.

A neighbor told ABC15 that the father and son lived at the home and a woman would occasionally visit but hadn't stopped by in a while.

There is no danger to the public and no further details were immediately available.
