FD: 12 in shelter after Tempe apartment fire

Officials are investigating a fire at a Tempe apartment complex.

The fire started on Sunday night near Apache Boulevard and McClintock Drive.

Tempe fire said when they arrived on the scene they found smoke coming from the apartment complex. When firefighters entered the apartment, they found smoke coming from a wall on the second floor.

The American Red Cross has opened a shelter for residents displaced by the fire. Twelve residents have already said they will stay in the shelter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
