Troopers are investigating after a motorcyclist was hit and killed in Tempe on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash happened just before 5 p.m. on while a motorcycle was traveling westbound on the US-60 HOV flyover ramp to westbound I-10.

DPS says the motorcyclist, identified as 25-year-old Mesa resident Albert Yanez, lost control of his motorcycle and struck the barrier wall. The impact caused him to go over the wall into eastbound traffic lanes where he was struck by a vehicle that could not avoid him.

A vehicle reportedly also struck the motorcycle which continued for a short time before coming to a stop.
