ASU football fans pause to remember fallen first responders

TEMPE, AZ - Arizona State football fans paused to remember 22 fallen first responders killed in the line of duty this year throughout Saturday night's football game.

Before the game started against Wisconsin, the names of the police officers and firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice scrolled across the big screen.

Those names included the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who died while battling the wildfire that devastated Yarnell.

Phoenix firefighter Bradley Harper was also remembered. He was killed while responding to a mulch fire several months ago.

The wife of Phoenix police officer Daryl Raetz, killed by a hit and run driver, participated in the coin toss before the game.

During halftime, the dispatcher who responded to several calls trying to save DPS officer Tim Huffman was honored.

Huffman died in a collision near Wellton in May.

First responders said they were honored ASU and its fans were thinking of their fellow fallen police officers and firefighters.
