Police detain suspects who crashed into Mesa house

MESA, AZ - Two suspects have been detained after slamming a stolen truck into a Mesa home early Thursday morning.

The accident happened just before 5 a.m. at McKellips Road and Stapley Drive.

Mesa Fire Department spokesman Forrest Smith said the truck went into the homeowner's bedroom. The driver of the truck was able to climb out through the windshield and run through the house in an attempt to escape.

Rogerio Trevino and his girlfriend, Veronica Gallegos, were both taken into custody, according to Mesa police Sgt. Steve Berry.

Berry said an insurance adjustor found Gallegos hiding in the closet of the homeowner's master bedroom. She had apparently been inside the closet for five hours.

Smith says there were no injuries reported.
