Apparent threat in Mesa neighborhood prompts lockdown at Sequoia Elementary

MESA, AZ - A Mesa elementary school was put on lockdown Thursday as police investigated an incident in a nearby neighborhood.

According to Amy Fraiser, Principal of Sequoia Elementary School, the situation was at a house just northeast of the school, located near US 60 and Horne.

Mesa police spokesman Steve Berry initially said they received a phone call about a person threatening someone at the school with a gun.

Three waves of officers searched the area, but did not find a suspect, victim or gun.

The school was put on lockdown for two hours while Mesa police investigated the situation.
