Gilbert police say they are investigating the death of a 6-month-old girl on Tuesday morning.
According to a police spokesman, around 11:30 a.m. they received a 9-1-1 call from a "frantic" mother who reported that her child was not breathing.
Officers and fire personnel responded to the scene, near Arizona Avenue and Guadalupe Road and transported the child to the hospital where the child was pronounced dead.
Gilbert police say detectives from their criminal investigations division are working to determine the contributing factors that led to the child's death.
