CHANDLER, AZ — Parents and teens in the southeast Valley are on edge and disturbed after "creepy" cards were placed on the cars of teens and other women.
Police say the incidents are happening at the Fry's near Chandler Heights and Higley roads.
Authorties say the incidents are certainly concerning to parents and the community, but are not criminal since the man did not solicit the women or try to lure the teens for anything criminal.
In fact, Gilbert police detectives found the man and talked with him Wednesday. Investigators told ABC15, after the conversation they are convinced the man was not trying to sex traffic the teens.
They did serve the 44-year-old Gilbert man a no trespassing warning. He is not allowed on that specific Fry's property for the next year.
Danni and Lauren are typical teens. "We were having a sleepover and really wanted to get fruit," said Danni.
So on Saturday night, the 17 and 18-year-old were to Fry's. In the parking lot though, the girls were followed.
"He was driving really slow down the parking aisle thing, and he had his window down," said Lauren. "I was like ehh he's driving really slow and he parked right next to us when there are 15 other spots open," said Danni.
"Looking us up and down, and just gave us this kind of weird feeling," said Lauren.
The girls rushed into Fry's and when they came outside two cards were on their dash. "Really creepy, because I looked around and no other cars had cards," said Lauren.
One side said "Be Recognized" with female legs. The back told the girls that they turned the mystery man's head.
It went on to say, "I would enjoy discreet texting on [the app] Kik or at" a 480 phone number.
"I wanted to throw up. I was super uncomfortable! Just that word [discreet], in particular," said Danni. "This is weird, you're an old man," said Lauren.
Lauren said she got a decent look at the guy.
"He was mid to late 40s, white, dirty blonde hair, and had some facial hair," said the 17-year-old, who also said he was in a blue Mercedes.
Gilbert police say that description helped them recognize the man.
The two teens have a message for that man and other young women watching.
"Please stop contacting young girls trying to get them to discreetly text you," said Danni. "It's really really important to pay attention to where you are at all times."
