Chandler woman, Sylvia Contreras, says she had mini-stroke after thieves stole purse at store

CHANDLER, AZ - A Chandler woman said she suffered a mini-stroke after she realized her purse had been stolen at a Valley grocery store.

"I turned around and I said, ‘Oh my God, where's my purse,'" said Sylvia Contreras, 62.

On June 15, Contreras said the staff at the Bashas' near Gilbert and Chandler Heights Roads had to call paramedics because the woman was about to pass out.

"Whatever they got out of it," said Contreras about the thieves, "it wasn't worth it."

On Friday, Chandler police released images of the man and woman who they believe to be the culprits.

"That lady was watching me," Contreras told ABC15, "They showed her on the video watching me."

Contreras said she now carries a backpack with her instead of a new purse.

"I'm very aware now," she said.

If you know who these individuals are, Chandler police ask that you call their detectives at 480-782-4130.
