Police are investigating after a seriously injured woman was found lying in the roadway in Phoenix overnight.

According to police on scene near 67th Avenue and Roosevelt Street, officers got a call regarding a body in the road around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers located a woman, believed to be between 30 and 50 years old, with broken bones and head wounds.

The woman, who did not have an ID on her, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

No vehicles were around the area, so police are still trying to determine how the woman was injured and if it was a hit-and-run collision, what vehicle was involved.

Officials are asking drivers to avoid the area Wednesday morning.
