Pair of stray dogs in Phoenix create unlikely friendship, adopted by Valley family

PHOENIX - An unlikely pair of stray dogs found wandering the streets of west Phoenix have built an unbreakable friendship. In fact, their bond is so strong, they will be together forever as they have been adopted by a Valley family.

Lenny, an 8-year-old German Shepherd, and Squiggy, a 2-year-old Cairn Terrier, were found on Aug. 31 and taken to a MCACC facility and were kenneled together.

MCACC spokesman Jose Santiago said Squiggy becomes very “apprehensive” when Lenny isn't around. Since then, they haven’t been apart.

“They sleep together, cuddle together, share food...they’re truly a bonded pair,” Santiago said.

Santiago described their relationship as a blessing because the shelter is already a stressful environment.

On Saturday morning, Santiago said the pair were adopted by a Valley family.

MCACC is also waiving pet adoption fees because their shelter is at capacity.
