Two suspects have been hospitalized following a shooting involving special agents from the Department of Homeland Security in Phoenix Tuesday.

According to Phoenix police, just after 3 p.m., officers responded to the area of 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road for a report of a shooting.

Officers were informed that special agents from ICE Homeland Security Investigations were involved in a shooting.

Police say two suspects were transported to the hospital.

DHS officials tell ABC15 that special agents fired during a narcotics investigation after a suspect reportedly tried to ram them with his vehicle.

Officials say, per protocol, ICE's Office of Professional Responsibility is reviewing the incident.

No agents were injured, police said.

This incident marks the 54th law enforcement shooting in the Valley in 2018, the 32nd within the city of Phoenix.

Among those, eight officer-involved shootings have happened within a three-mile radius of 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road this year.

No further information was immediately available.
