Woman dies after crashing car into bus at 40th Street/Southern in Phoenix

A woman is dead after crashing a car into a bus in south Phoenix early Saturday morning.

Police responded to the 40th Street and Southern Avenue intersection around 12:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash.

According to a police spokeswoman, a woman in a sedan was driving on 40th Street when she hit a bus stopped at the intersection.

The driver was the only person in the sedan and she died at the scene, authorities said. Police did not immediately release her name but said she is 30 to 40 years old.

The bus driver and another passenger were the only people on the bus, officials said. They were not injured in the collision.

An investigation remains ongoing.
