State regulators say several people have been arrested after search warrants were served Thursday night at four Valley locations.

A release from the Arizona Department of Gaming says authorities targeted two Phoenix businesses, Poker Union near 7th Avenue and Union Hills, along with The Gold House at 19th Avenue and Bell Road, as well as two homes in Glendale.

One of the businesses was found to be operating an illegal poker room that hosted games and tournaments, according to a release from state regulators.

Officials say unregulated gambling businesses often open near neighborhoods and can attract violent crimes to the area.

Regulators credit their partnership with local law enforcement agencies in helping to shut down more than a dozen illegal gambling operations so far this year.
