Woman stung by bees in Phoenix taken to hospital in serious condition

PHOENIX - Authorities say a woman has been taken to the hospital after she was stung multiple times by a swarm of bees.

Phoenix fire Capt. Jonathan Jacobs said the woman has been taken to an emergency room in serious condition.

The incident happened near 42nd Street and Thomas Road Thursday morning.

ABC15 learned that the woman was walking on the sidewalk past a home where landscapers were doing work when the bees flew out of a palm tree and attacked the woman.

The workers poured water on the woman trying to get the bees off her and she ran down the street screaming for help. A neighbor called 911.

Landscapers told ABC15 the homeowner has given them permission to remove the palm tree where the bees have their hive.

Jacobs said there were no other victims reported.
