Woman shot by husband in Phoenix dies, husband still on the loose

PHOENIX - A woman has died after she was shot by her husband, police say.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. Sunday near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Phoenix police Lt. Michael Rivera said the shooting happened during a family argument.

The 21-year-old victim was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, but eventually died from her injuries.

Rivera said an infant was taken from the scene and is with relatives. The couple has been married about two years.

The suspect fled in a green 2006 Nissan Titan and police are now looking for him. Rivera said the Nissan has an Arizona license plate of 520 WCT and a trailer hitch with a Garfield emblem.

Rivera said the 24-year-old suspect was last wearing a black shirt and black pants.
