Valley resident Chester Bennington from Linkin Park teams up with Stone Temple Pilots raising money

MESA, AZ - 'Stars of the Season' is expected to bring some major star power to a fundraiser for a Valley medical center.

The 4th annual event will include a live concert from Valley rock star Chester Bennington from Linkin Park who is teaming up with Stone Temple Pilots to raise money for the Cardon Children's Medical Center at Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa.

Proceeds of the fundraiser go to the neonatal intensive care unit at Cardon Children's.

Dr. David Curran, chair of Cardon's Department of Pediatrics told ABC15 Bennington and his family have volunteered at Cardon Children's for years and helped the facility raise nearly $270,000 during last year's event.

"It's amazing and it's very touching to see the impact so many people can have in a child's life," said Curran.

Curran and his wife Tina are co-chairs of the advisory council of Cardon Children's Medical Center.

"This isn't just a fundraiser, for us, there is a real passion behind this to help others, especially children and it's truly a blessing and remarkable that so many people are just as passionate as Tina and I am," said Curran from his Mesa office.

The goal for Saturday October 26 at the Montelucia Resort & Spa is to raise $320,000.

Bennington, a Gilbert resident, is known for his charity work and donating artwork, autographs and CD's.

Aside from a performance from the rock star, the event will feature a silent auction, live auction and a raffle.
