PHOENIX — Families planning on adding a four-legged friend for Christmas have the option of receiving their new pet with a visit from "Santa Paws."

Starting Monday, December 17th and going through the 22nd, families who adopt from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control and pay full price for the adoption have the option of waiting and having the pet delivered on Christmas Eve.

There are 20 spots open for Christmas Eve deliveries, according to Jose Santiago, a shelter spokesperson. The animal will arrive between noon and 5 p.m. and will be delivered with a bag of toys, food and other items.

The adoption applies to any pet, not just dogs or cats, but there is a special selection of puppies available as part of the promotion, Santiago said.
