Mike Forst is honest. He's tired of TV and newspaper interviews, understandably.
"We've just done them so many times and you have hope and you're let down and have hope again," he said.
For nearly 10 years, he and his siblings have sat in front of cameras, put up flyers and billboards, all with the hope that someone will tell police who killed their father.
Unfortunately, it's been a decade of disappointment.
"I just feel like people have seen the stories and have seen the interviews and I feel like if they're going to talk they would have already," Forst said.
Forst makes it clear though, he's worn down, but not defeated.
"We still have hope for sure," he said. "Cases get solved after 10 years or after 20 years."
Mike's father Ed Forst was just 55 years old. He was shot in June 2007 while sitting in his SUV near 27th Avenue and McDowell Rd. He drove a short distance, crashed at a local convenience store and died.
This week, Silent Witness announced a $3,500 reward. With extra donations from Forst's family and friends, they are able to offer more than the standard $1,000.
"We're not concerned with the motivation if someone comes forward after ten years," Sgt. Jamie Rothschild from Silent Witness said. "So whatever motivates them if it's the money, if its getting justice or just doing the right thing now. If they have that information call Silent Witness and let us get it to the investigators."
Mike and his father worked together in Tempe. A memorial and gazebo in honor of his dad was built nearby.
"You know, I think about my dad everywhere, every day at the various places that I go. I dream about him still," Mike said. "This is nice and I come to look at it often. I think about him all the time. I don't know if he had 30 years left, but to lose that last chunk of life you worked so hard for isn't right isn't fair."
