Authorities are releasing the name of the suspect involved in a shooting with police in Phoenix last week.

The suspect, Jeffrey D. Werner, was released from the hospital on Wednesday after suffering a non-life-threatening injury during the incident.

He’s facing multiple charges including attempted murder of a police officer, prohibited possessor and unlawful flight from law enforcement.

On Wednesday, Sept. 20, police attempted to perform a traffic stop in the area 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road after discovering he has a warrant for his arrest out of Yavapai County.

According to officials, Werner is accused of not pulling his car over and instead allegedly shot at officers before leaving the scene.

Police were able to disable his car near 44th Street and Thomas Road. Werner allegedly shot at officers a second time who in turn exchanged gunfire.

Phoenix police say the suspect was eventually taken down by a police K9 and was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
