Police: Mesa officers involved in 2 deadly shootings

PHOENIX - Police say Mesa officers have been involved in two shootings on Friday night.

Authorities say no officers were injured in either incident.

The first shooting happened around 7:50 p.m. near Central Avenue and Dobbins Road.

Phoenix police spokesman Steve Martos said U.S. Marshals were attempting to serve a domestic violence warrant to a suspect at this location.

According to Martos, the suspect had a weapon and police, fearing for their lives, shot him and killed the man.

Mesa police spokesman Tony Landato said the agency's Violent Offender Unit was involved.

The second shooting happened  around 9:30 p.m. near 32nd Street and Greenway Road.

According to the Associated Press, officers at the scene say Mesa police had been following a man in a stolen car, and a foot chase ensued.

Further details haven't been released, but police say the driver had a gun and was shot and killed.
