Phoenix police identify Anna Blaze as deadly hit-and-run victim

PHOENIX - Phoenix police have identified the 41-year-old woman who lost her life Sunday when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver.

Police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said Anna Blaze was hit while walking on the sidewalk near 11th Street and Northern. She was hit from behind and died overnight.

Crump said Blaze's family provided a picture of her in hopes it will generate tips that will help identify the driver of the vehicle that hit her.

Blaze is pictured with her mother who is also deceased.

ABC15 spoke with a friend of Blaze's who was laying flowers at the scene of the accident.

"She was putting her life together and moving forward," she said. "I brought flowers and am praying for her soul to be at peace considering the way she died."

Earlier Monday afternoon, the owner of a car believed to have been involved in the deadly crash came forward to help police.
It is unclear though at this time who was actually driving the car. Police do not think that Blaze was purposefully hit.
Police are interviewing the owner of the car and are continuing their investigation.
