Phoenix police arrest suspect in fatal shooting

PHOENIX - Police have arrested the suspect who is believed to be connected to a fatal shooting in Phoenix.

Phoenix police Sergeant Trent Crump said the shooting happened in the area of 18th Street and Adams around 9:00 p.m. on Monday.

According to Crump, the victim and another individual were standing on the sidewalk when the suspect approached the victim from behind and started yelling at him.

The suspect then fired several shots at the victim from a handgun, Crump said.

Phoenix police officers were already in the area and found the suspect nearby.

The victim has been described a 42-year-old black male.

Detectives are still investigating the scene.
