Arizona Minuteman founder Christopher Simcox arrested in Phoenix for alleged molestations

PHOENIX - One of the founders of an Arizona activist group is behind bars for allegedly molesting three young girls.

Police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson said Christopher Allen Simcox, 52, was arrested Wednesday near 48th Street and Thomas.

Thompson said police developed probable cause to believe Simcox had sexual conduct with the girls, all under the age of ten.

Authorities said they believe the incidents happened within the last several months. They are not releasing any further information at this time to protect the victims' identities.

Thompson said Simcox, who denied the allegations, was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and charged with two counts of molestation of a child, two counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of attempted molestation of a child.

Simcox co-founded the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, which brought thousands of anti-illegal immigration activists to patrol the U.S.-Mexico border and report suspected illegal immigrants to the Border Patrol.

Anyone who may have additional information concerning these incidents should contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-534-2121 or Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS or (480) TESTIGO.
