If prayers and love could bring Melissa Mason and Nicole Glass back, there would be no need for a billboard or the annual candlelight vigil which took place Sunday night.
"I'm hoping that somebody has a conscience and come forward and do the right thing and call a tip into Silent Witness," said Nicole's mother, Rachel Glass.
Rachel Glass remembers it vividly. It was December 3, 2010, when someone called her after seeing the coverage on television. News video showed Phoenix police in and out of Nicole's home near 44th Street and Thomas Road. Then, the news that two 27-year-old women were dead inside. It wasn't until 3:00 a.m the following day that Glass found out her daughter and daughter's pregnant roommate were strangled.
"It's a huge void in our lives," Glass said, choking back tears.
Police have not said if there are suspects or a motive. Silent Witness has been assisting both families, using a reward to entice someone to come forward with that critical piece of information their families have so desperately been waiting for.
"We come out here, so our victims aren't forgotten, but we keep wanting to make the plea to the community if you have information let us have that information," said Sgt. Jamie Rothschild.
Thanks to the electronic billboards, the case has remained in the public eye. But it hasn't been enough to find the person Glass would very much like to confront.
"May God have mercy on your soul for what you've done," she said. "It's changed our lives forever."
