A pedestrian was shot and killed after yelling at stopped traffic Friday morning in Phoenix.

Police said the shooting happened just before 9 a.m. at Glendale and 19th avenues.

According to police, two pedestrians crossed the street to the light rail platform, causing northbound traffic to brake heavily.

After the pedestrians crossed, they began yelling.

Police said one of the pedestrians, a 29-year-old man, ran toward the driver of one of the vehicles and aggressively approached the driver's door.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, pulled a gun and fired one round from the vehicle, hitting and killing the approaching pedestrian.

Police said the driver was later released as they continue to investigate the incident.
