PHOENIX — Parts of Arizona may see plans change for how to ring in the new year, with a winter storm expected to bring snow to parts of the state above 3,000 feet on Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, Flagstaff, Payson, Pine-Strawberry and Heber will all receive at least 3 inches of snow. The areas of highest accumulation will be in areas located along the eastern Mogollon Rim and in the White Mountains, areas like Show Low, Forest Lakes and Pinetop areas should expect 6 to 12 inches. One to four inches of snow is possible in the Globe/Miami area.

In the Phoenix area, a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible as scattered showers move through with the system, with the majority falling in the afternoon and evening.

The storm system should move out on Tuesday. Winter Storm Warnings for the Flagstaff area will expire at midnight Tuesday.

Areas along the eastern Mogollon Rim and in the White Mountains are under a Winter Storm Warning until 5 p.m. Tuesday. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for areas down to 3,000 feet across northern and eastern Arizona.
