Julian Sanchez arrested for stabbing girlfriend, daughter in Phoenix, police say

PHOENIX - A Phoenix man is behind bars after stabbing his girlfriend and daughter over the weekend at their home.

Julian Sanchez, 41, was booked into Maricopa County Jail and has been charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault, said Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson.

The stabbing occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday just west of 16th Street, south of Broadway Road.

Sanchez and his 38-year-old girlfriend got into an argument over their 20-year relationship, Thompson said.

He said they have several children together.

During the argument, Sanchez got a kitchen knife and stabbed her multiple times, Thompson said.

Their 18-year-old daughter reportedly stepped in to stop the fight, but Sanchez then stabbed his daughter in the arm, Thompson said.

Sanchez left the scene but was later arrested around 7 p.m. Tuesday when his family members drove him to a Phoenix police command station. He surrendered without incident.

His girlfriend's injuries were serious, but she's in stable condition and is expected to survive, Thompson said.

Their daughter suffered non-life threatening injuries.
