Jodi Arias trial: Valley author Shanna Hogan writing book on case

A Valley journalist and true crime author is writing a book about the Jodi Arias case and said Thursday's testimony was the most important part of the trial.

The 32-year-old is charged with killing her former boyfriend Travis Alexander in June 2008 at his Mesa, Ariz. home.

"He's [prosecutor] coming at her hard and hitting her with the tough questions and these are the questions the jury wants answered," said author Shanna Hogan.

After researching the case for years, Hogan has been at the courthouse for most of the trial.

Hogan feels Arias planned out the murder.

"I think part of the killing was she was going to make him hurt physically as much as she suffered mentally being in love with this man who did not love her back," said Hogan.

Hogan thinks Arias' jealous rage turned to murder.

"I think she was completely obsessed, completely fixated on this man and she could not see her life without him in it and she had to kill him," said Hogan.

Hogan said her book about the case, Picture Perfect, is almost done and is scheduled to be released in October. She's just waiting on the final chapter.

And while she cannot determine how it will end yet, Hogan feels she has a hunch.

"I think she's going to spend the rest of her life behind bars, and if not, be sent to death row."
