Hurricane Florence: Phoenix fire crews heading to North Carolina

A search and rescue team from the Phoenix Fire Department hit the road Tuesday to assist with Hurricane Florence on the East Coast.

Arizona Urban Search and Rescue Team 1 has been activated in anticipation of landfall on Thursday.

Thirty-five Phoenix fire members, 10 support personnel, and two members of Phoenix police are heading to Raleigh, North Carolina. 

The team will have equipment for a larger 80-person team if needed. 

There are also about 20 people from the Phoenix American Red Cross that are heading to North Carolina.
