Gov. Doug Ducey has ordered flag lowered to half-staff in honor of a U.S. Border Patrol agent who was killed in a motorcycle accident near Tucson.
Ducey says the death of 37-year-old Agent Manuel Alvarez on Thursday serves as a "tragic reminder of the daily risks" that law enforcement officers face.
Flags will be lowered at state buildings on Friday and the day of Alvarez's funeral, which is pending.
CBP Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske says Alvarez was stationed at the Casa Grande Border Patrol Station in the Tucson Sector and had been an agent since July 2003.
He says Alvarez leaves behind a wife and four children.
Kerlikowske says he's authorizing all CBP uniformed personnel to wear mourning bands until after Alvarez's memorial services.
