Could Downtown Phoenix be the new up-and-coming place to call home? Some new additions could make living in the bustling central Valley area more convenient.

Fry's is expected to open its doors in 2019, but the building will also have other businesses above it. In 2020, the area near Jefferson and Third Street will also be home to a brand new luxury high-rise, said to be a "multi-family complex" with hundreds of new apartments just across the street from Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Some in the Valley say they see promise for the future, as they watch construction pave the way for new businesses and homes. They say it could help bring in more than just tourists, and help downtown become known for more than its restaurants and nightlife.

Another addition to the Valley? New jobs.

Voya Financial announced they'll be opening a call center for the company, creating more than one thousand jobs. See more companies hiring now around the Valley
