A construction worker was reportedly injured during a machinery fall in downtown Phoenix on Monday morning.

Phoenix Fire Department says the incident happened near 1st and Jefferson streets around 7 a.m.

Officials say the construction worker, a man in his thirties, was restrained in a Bobcat-type front-loader piece of machinery when he fell into a basement hole at the scene.

Reports given to firefighters was that the worker was attempting to pour dirt into the basement from the street level when the weight shifted and the tractor fell approximately 12 feet.

Emergency crews had to use ladders to get into the hole to get the worker. He was reportedly wearing his proper safety gear at the time of the incident.

Officials on scene say the worker suffered an ankle injury and was taken from the scene for treatment.

Air15 video showed construction work at the site running as normal after the incident.
