Seventeen-year-old Angel Morales grew up just outside of Chandler — but this is where he loves to be. He’s passionate about working with animals and will be showing off the livestock he raised at the Arizona State Fair.
"I don't mean to sound selfish but it has open so many doors for me," said Angel. "I have grown to love animals on such a different level."

Morales is among the 500 young people from across the state displaying their hard work at the fair. He’s hoping their several exhibits will dispel myths about young people’s work ethics.
"There are just many misconceptions," said Angel. "You can go days about it. There's just so many on a broad spectrum."
Such as this one: Seven-percent of American adults believe chocolate milk actually comes from brown cows. That's according to a recent study.
But the fact is, the fair's livestock director says young people do need to be exposed to the agriculture business.
"For youth who raise livestock, it is life lessons that they'll take with them forever," said Karen Searle. "Including just the business aspect of raising an animal. The cost to take care of it, to feed it. Those stay with you."
Angel plans to stay in agriculture after he graduates from Chandler High School, taking those life lessons with him.
The fair's Youth Week kicks off Oct. 16.
