$180K bond set for Ramiro Manuel Garcia in deadly Guadalupe shooting

PHOENIX - Bond is set at $180,000 for a suspect accused of fatally shooting another man in the town of Guadalupe near Phoenix.

Ramiro Manuel Garcia had his initial appearance Monday in Maricopa County Superior Court. He doesn't have an attorney yet.

The 22-year-old Garcia was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder after Friday night's incident near Priest Drive and Baseline Road.

He told investigators that he shot the man in self-defense following an argument.

According to court paperwork, both Garcia and the victim brandished firearms at one another.

Garcia told deputies he shot the victim when the victim tried to punch him.

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies say when they arrived, Garcia and his uncle were standing near the victim who was lying in the street in a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say they found two handguns and a bullet casing near the victim that matched one of the guns located at the scene.
