One Valley jewelry store is probably going to keep a closer eye on who tries on its merchandise from now on.

Phoenix police say a 23-year-old man walked into Ganem jewelry in Ahwatukee just before noon on Thursday. He asked to see an $11,000 Breitling watch. When employees gave it to him to try on, he bolted out the door.

Two employees followed him out and tried to stop him. The suspect bit one of the employees on the arm during the struggle, according to police.

The pair were able to keep the suspect nearby until officers showed up and arrested the man. Police say during the arrest, officers discovered the man also had a gun.

Phoenix police said the suspect will be charged with robbery and assault.

Detectives are also looking into if the man is connected to similar robberies matching this one.
