Mayer evacuation lifted following flash flooding

Heavy rain in the Mayer area prompted a mandatory evacuation for residents for several hours Thursday afternoon. 

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said rain in the Big Bug Creek area has caused flash flooding. Residents in low lying areas near Big Bug Creek were ordered to evacuate.

YCSO says there was a significant danger and residents needed to gather items and go. 

Officials monitored areas in Spring Valley, especially along Bob White Road, while storms rolled through the area.

Evacuation orders were lifted by YCSO around 8:30 p.m.
