Two Arizona women turn junk into treasure with Valley 'Junk in the Trunk' show

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Two Valley women have taken their love for the old and turned it into a business.

Co-founders of "Junk in the Trunk" organize a vintage market a few times a year. They're hosting one Saturday, Nov. 9, at Westworld in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Coley Arnold and Lindsey Holte have had a passion for vintage since they were young and now spend their time revitalizing old finds into new and fashionable pieces.

They say anyone can do "vintage" in their homes. They suggest checking out garage sales or estate sales, especially in older, more established neighborhoods. They've also had luck finding pieces at thrift stores, antique sales, and auctions.

They said when searching for vintage items it's important to be able to distinguish between what's a treasure and what's just trash. They suggest looking for pieces that are sturdy and skipping things that are cracked because they can by difficult to repair.

Chairs make great vintage buys because they're sturdy and are typically made out of real wood. Lastly, the key is to look for potential. Remember that a coat of paint or new fabric can transform an item.

The Vintage Market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Westworld in Scottsdale.
