Scottsdale police searching for sexual assault suspect

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Scottsdale police are searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman at her apartment early Saturday.

According to a Scottsdale police report, the victim said she'd just returned home and before she could lock her door the male suspect forced his way into her apartment near 78th Street and Camelback Road.

He then began to assault the victim as she tried to fight him off.

The suspect then sexually assaulted the woman before he fled out a patio door.

The victim was injured from the assault but did not require hospitalization, according to police.

Police say it is possible the suspect was injured from the victim fighting back, but say his injuries are unknown.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, 5 feet 11 inches tall with a thin build, a 1/4-inch afro-style haircut, wearing a white T-shirt, baggy jeans, gray boxers and a Chicago Bulls hat that may be blue.

Neighbors told ABC15 they were shocked something like that could happen.

"I don't worry about myself, I worry how if my mom ever comes over I'm going to be more worried about her," said Brant Frazee, who lives in the complex. "Sometimes we think we're in Scottsdale and we don't have to worry about that but I guess it's everywhere."

Anyone with information about the suspect or incident is urged to call the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000.
