Scottsdale PD: Valley dad, Brokale Lytte Marques, faces child abuse charges after son left in car

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A Valley one-year-old remains in extremely critical condition after being left in a car for at least five hours, Scottsdale police say.

Officer David Pubins said officers responded to the Scottsdale Quarter shopping area around 2 p.m. Saturday after a 28-year-old man flagged down security to get medical help for his 1-year-old son.

According to Pubins, the father got to work in the area of Scottsdale Road and Greenway-Hayden Loop around 9 a.m. with the child in his car seat, after being unable to find a babysitter.

Pubins said the father intended to leave the boy in the car with the air-conditioning and vehicle running while he went to work.

Authorities identified the father Sunday morning as Brokale Lytte Marques. He faces charges of child abuse, child neglect and endangerment.
