Heroes can be found in the most unlikely places of places — even a Scottsdale martial arts studio.

On Saturday, the Scottsdale Fire Department held a ceremony to honor two men who took action during one of their classes.
Back on May 30 Richard Farkas suffered a heart attack at Aikido of Scottsdale near Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard.

Fellow attendees Dr. Santosh Rao and Dr. Dennis Scribner took action immediately and began performing CPR, while directing others to call 911.

Scottsdale Fire Department engineer Chad Masciotra told us Farkas was "clinically dead," but regained a pulse while on his way to the hospital with the second round of help from fire crews.
"We were able to bring him back to life and he's walking around and spending the rest of his life with his family," Masciotra said.

Scottsdale fire said, this is a perfect example of why everyone should know the life-saving skills associated with CPR.
