An uptick in wild horse sightings in Fountain Hills is sparking action from local volunteers.

The Salt River Wild Horse Management Group spent Sunday guiding horses back to the Verde River after an investigation discovered that the horses has recently become trapped.

A repair was recently made to a fence between Fountain Hills and the Fort McDowell Reservation. The move was meant to prevent wild horses from roaming Fountain Hills neighborhoods, however, a mare and stallion were caught on the wrong side of the fence.

SRWHMG was assisted by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in guiding the pair back to the Fort McDowell Reservation area. The horses are now safe.
