U.S. Border Patrol arrests suspected drug smugglers from Mexico

YUMA, CA - The Yuma Border Patrol says 457 pounds of marijuana was seized after six suspected drug smugglers from Mexico were arrested.

Border Patrol Agents saw footprints from the border fence, six miles west of Andrade, California, in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. After following the footprints the agents found bundles of marijuana that amounted to 457 pounds, Yuma Border Patrol says.

The agents continued to follow the prints and arrested six of the eight suspected smugglers. Two ran back to Mexico, Border Patrol says.

The suspects and the $228,500 worth of marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
