Jose Rodriguez arrested after allegedly shooting a woman in the leg during a domestic dispute

YUMA, AZ - Authorities say a woman was shot in the leg during a domestic dispute at a home just outside Yuma early Sunday.

Yuma County Sheriff's deputies responded to the home near Fortuna Road and Interstate 8 around 12:30 a.m. where they found the male suspect being held by a third party and a neighbor giving first aid to the female victim. Callers to 911 said the victim had been shot in the leg, according to a news release.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound. Her condition was not released.

During the investigation, deputies found out that the suspect, 30-year-old Jose Rodriguez, had fired a .40 caliber pistol at the victim following the argument.

Authorities said that also in the house were three children ages 5, 9, and 11.

Witnesses described the weapon as a black pistol, which was recovered at the scene.

Rodriguez was booked into the Yuma County Jail on a number of charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault and endangerment.
