Authorities say a man who served a prison term in Mexico in the 2003 killing of an off-duty U.S. Border Patrol agent has been arrested and accused of illegally re-entry into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection say Border Patrol agents apprehended Francisco Javier Rosas-Molina on Sunday.
CBP says Rosas-Molina served 11 years in prison in Mexico for the 2003 beating death of Border Patrol Agent Jorge Salomon-Martinez near Cananea, Sonora, Mexico.
Salomon-Martinez was traveling off-duty when he befriended several men who then learned he was a Border Patrol agent.
The Border Patrol said Rosas-Molina previously served 108 days in jail for after being arrested in Cochise County in a marijuana case.
