Woman arrested in Nogales for attempting to smuggle $100K into Mexico

NOGALES, AZ - Customs and Border Protection officers seized $100,000 in unreported U.S. currency Saturday in Nogales, Ariz. from a California woman attempting to smuggle it into Mexico.

At the Dennis DeConcini Port, officers selected a Honda sedan driven by Blanca Gabriela Medina, 29, from El Monte, Calif. for further inspection, according to a CBP report.

While searching the vehicle, they found 10 packages of U.S. currency hidden in a box of laundry detergent.

The unreported cash was seized, and Medina was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.

According to the report, Medina is presumed innocent as the investigation of the unreported currency continues.
