Police first received reports about the crash near Highway 287 and River Ridge Road around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to a police spokesperson, deputy Delcia Harber underwent surgery after suffering a fractured tibia and foot injury.

Jessica Eno, 26, was driving a silver SUV eastbound on 287 when she allegedly rear rear-ended 58-year-old Joni Davis' white sedan which was stopped waiting to make a left turn, officials said.

Eno said she was checking her rearview mirror when the accident occurred, a police report said

Eno's car pushed Davis' car into the westbound lane, which collided head-on with Harber's patrol car, authorities said.

Eno's car caught fire but she was able to escape with only scratches to her hand.

Davis was airlifted to a Chandler hospital, officials said. She was last reported in critical but stable condition.
